DAVID FARRANT
President British Psychic & Occult Society
Born in the leafy London suburb of Highgate, a name that he has been linked with for almost forty years, David Farrant is amongst its more famous sons.
The author of several dozen books, writer of countless articles that have spanned the globe and regular fixture on supernatural themed shows, David Farrant has carved a precise niche for himself as one of the countrys leading paranormal investigators and writers.
His journey started in a large rambling Victorian house where he was brought up by his mother and father. His mother in particular, played a very strong part in his leaning towards Wicca and the paranormal and he has credited her at every opportunity.
His mother sadly passed away when he was at the tender age of 13 and so began a quest for knowledge that she had ignited within him.
Fiercely independant, David traveled across Europe aged only 15, with a few pounds in his pockets and a sleeping bag in a rucksack. The adventures were enough to fill a book, "Shadows In The Night", and formed the foundation for a life dedictade to unravelling the mysteries of the unknown.Today, David Farrant still lives in Highgate and just a short distance from the house he grew up in.
His popularity remains high given his appearance in Hollywood blockbuster DVD's like Underworld, where he was featured in a show concerning Vampires as part of the extensive special features disc and also as a regular face on various shows on Living TV.
He still holds public talks where he invites as much audience participation as possible and never shys away from any question regarding the infamous case of The Highgate Vampire Hoax, where what was originally deemed a 'Ghost', was transformed into a Vampire by manipulative publicity seekers. One of the most common questions at such talks, is "Why do YOU call it a Vampire if you don't believe in them?"
The answer is rather all too simple: "If the sky is blue, then who am I to argue the shade? The term Vampire was coined by the media. I simply refer to it by it's common name, whilst my belief of what it actually is, takes second place to the sensationalist headline."Taking full advantage of the digital medium, David has established contact with fans, friends and foes around the world courtesy of the internet.
With 5 books planned ahead, David is still very much as enthusiastic about the subject matter as when he first startted out all those years ago.
